Hello, I have spent my entire career helping people. I was the director of the Purdue University Northwest Couple and Family Therapy Center for 25 years, and taught in the marriage and family therapy master's program there. I have edited or authored nine books, including An Introduction to Marriage and Family Therapy (with Joseph Wetchler), Ethics and Professional Issues in Couple and Family Therapy (with Megan Murphy), and HIPAA Demystified: HIPAA Compliance for Mental Health Professionals, among others, and have published in numerous peer-reviewed journals.
Education. I have a Ph.D. in Child Development and Family Studies with a specialization in marriage and family therapy from Purdue University. I also have a master's degree in Counselor Education from Western Illinois University, and a bachelor's degree in psychology with a minor in gerontology also from Western Illinois University.
Affiliations and Certifications. I am a Clinical Fellow and Approved Supervisor in the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. I am also an Invited Supervisor for the Institute for Couples and Family Relationships (ICFR), and faculty for Daybreak University. I hold the title of professor emerita of Purdue University NW.
Professional Honors. I won Purdue University's Walk the Talk Award, April 21, 2014. This award was bestowed by Purdue University, through the Office of the Vice President for Ethics & Compliance, presented to individuals who “most exemplify strong ethical character in their dealings with others, champion ethical practices or programs, or apply personal values in a manner that demonstrates integrity and high standards of excellence.”
Personal. I love all of the outdoor activities Fort Collins has to offer, and when I am not doing therapy, you will likely find me outdoors or on my yoga mat. I am a proud mom to two college-aged young adults.
